Message: Esteemed citizens!
I am unable to move any pieces in any games. My renewal (gold I think) was up for renewal on 30th December, but the note I received suggested that payment had passed smoothly. Please help.
Many, many thanks.
Is there a person or people who can be contacted?

Just a reminder that GK may not answer a Question that is already covered in the FAQ's section. So I think to receive a reply you may need to point out that the reason is not one of these already put in the FAQ's. Here is a link, and copy of #6 about this problem.

Q6: I'm unable to make any moves in any of my games, what do I
do?
............
A: There are several possible reasons for not being able to make
a move:
• First of all, make sure that you are logged in to GameKnot from
the front page.
• Please double-check that you are not trying to make an illegal
move and that your King will not be in check when your move is
submitted.
• If you have any anti-virus or firewall software installed on your
computer, please make sure that it is not set to disable all active
scripts (JavaScript in particular) for all sites.
• Make sure that your Security level in Internet Options (Internet
Explorer only) is set to Medium (recommended) or lower. If you
have your Security level set to High and you do not want to
lower it to Medium, you will need to disable "Move confirmation
/ submit button" in your profile to be able to make your moves.
• Some computer viruses might prevent your browser from
functioning correctly (W32.Blast.Worm, for example). Make sure
that your anti-virus software is up-to-date.
• Sometimes, clearing temporary Internet files (i.e. the browser's
cache) helps -- select "Tools | Internet Options..." menu, click
"Delete Files..." button, hit OK.
• If you are using Microsoft Windows operating system, make
sure to download and install all the latest patches from Microsoft
Windows Update.
• If everything else fails, try updating your web browser software
to the latest version, or using a different web browser altogether.

——— Title Match Remains Tied After Champion Misses Win — With the world chess championship match having entered a critical stage, Viswanathan Anand of India, the titleholder, switched openings in Game 9, hoping to recapture momentum and the lead that he relinquished with a loss in Game 8. He almost did. But, with victory in sight, Anand faltered and missed a couple of winning continuations, which allowed Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria, the challenger, to salvage the game and keep the best-of-12 match tied. In each of the previous games he had White, Anand had steered the opening into the Catalan system, which is solid, but not too dynamic. In Game 9, he played 3 Nc3 instead of 3 Nf3 for the first time. That gave Topalov ...

Regards, Craig ——— The Best Woman in Chess Still Stands Alone at the Top — Judit Polgar is the only woman to ever be ranked in the world’s top 10, or even in the top 100. At age 34, her ranking has slipped to 51 (from No. 8 in 2005) as the responsibilities of being a wife and mother — she has two children, ages 3 and 5 — have left her little time to train and compete. Since 1991, when Polgar became the youngest chess grandmaster in history, more than a dozen women have also earned the title. Two of them, Humpy Koneru of India and Hou Yifan of China, became grandmasters when they were even younger than Polgar. But no other woman has been able to break into the chess elite. Koneru is 23, and Yifan is only 16, so it seems likely that ...

Message: Thank you for trying to help. My next installment for payment isn't due until 30th December 2008, so that does not appear to be the problem, though it seems a coincidence that the first time I couldn't move any pieces is the day after I updated, but ho hum!
——— Topalov Wins to Tie Championship Match — Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria, the challenger for the world chess championship, broke through stubborn defense by Viswanathan Anand of India, the chess champion, to win Game 8 of their title match. The score is now tied at 4 points apiece. Since winning Game 1, Topalov had been stymied and outplayed. Though he had not been in any real trouble since losing Game 4, he also had not been able to find a chink in Anand’s armor, that is until Tuesday. Topalov was White and the opening was a Slav Defense, just as in Games 3 and 5. After 12 moves, the players reached the same position as they had in the earlier games, which Anand drew easily. He was the first to deviate, choosing ...

Message: Security level medium, deleted all the file thingies, still no joy. Seems a shame to leave gameknot after all the fun it's given me over the last couple of years, particularly as I've just paid my subscription, but what can I do?
PS What's a web browser?! ——— An Exciting Draw Kicks Off Second Half of Title Match — The seventh game of the World Chess Championship match in Sofia, Bulgaria, ended in a draw, just as the two previous games had. But the game on Monday was far from dull. Viswanathan Anand of India, the chess champion, had White for the second game in a row as the players reversed the order of colors now that the match is in its second half. As he has done throughout the match, Anand opened with the d pawn and played the Catalan. Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria, who had stuck with the same first four moves in the previous games where he had Black, suddenly selected a new move, though one that is often played. Topalov played rapidly, indicating that ...

Message: Right gentlemen progress of sorts.
THe java will not download, it's asking me to enable cookies and something? Any explanations what that means in English?
Many thanks again... ——— At Halfway Point, Chess Champion Retains Lead of Title Match — For the first time in his title match with Viswanathan Anand of India, the defending world chess champion, Veselin Topalov, a Bulgarian, did not lose while playing Black. He also did not win as Game 6 ended in a draw. That preserved Anand’s one point lead. The score is now 3.5 to 2.5 in the best-of-12 match. The chess match is being played in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has a prize fund of two million euros, or about $2.7 million. Anand had won Games 2 and 4, when he had White, posing a serious problem for Topalov when he had Black. In Game 6, Anand again chose the Catalan opening, as he had in the previous games. Topalov responded as he had in Game 2, when he got a good ...
